PATTY JACKSON'S 4-1-1
WEEK ENDING: March 30th, 2012

The news results of Whitney Houston’s autopsy are not what the public wanted to hear: accidental drowning, cocaine and heart disease. Houston's behavior was erratic in the last days of her life, so you knew something was up. Nevertheless, hearing the report included cocaine was still shocking. Were drugs in the hotel room when Houston died, and who got rid of them? Who gave Houstondrugs in her final days? Will there be an investigation? A lot of fingers were pointed at Ray J, Brandy’s little brother, because he was in her life at the time. Does he possess sex tapes of him and Houston? Ray J says there are no sex tapes, and he has gone into hiding. He says he knew nothing of drug use involving Houston.

Houston's ex-hubby Bobby Brown had a rough week. He was arrested and officially charged with D.U.I. and driving with a suspended license. If he’s convicted and gets the max, he’d be looking at six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for each count. Brown, 43, was stopped by police when they caught him talking on a cell phone while driving without a hands free device. Police noticed something wrong, and had Brown take four sobriety tests, which he failed. He is currently out on bail and has rejoined the New Edition 30th Anniversary tour. In 1996, Brown spent 8 days in jail when he pled guilty to a D.U.I.

Get well wishes go out to TV’s Tami Roman. Roman suffered a mild heart attack earlier this week. The 41-year old reality star felt ill and checked herself into the hospital. Doctors found that Roman had massive blockage in her arteries. She was treated and released. Roman is often seen getting her drink on during her show Basketball Wives Miami. She’s also known for her volatile temper and fighting on the show. Roman has been a reality star since the 90’s with the MTV show The Real World. She is the former wife of Basketball Player Kenny Anderson. This has been a rough week for her. In addition to the heart attack, she is being sued by a hair company, Crème De La Crème, for $75,000. They claim they hired Roman to endorse their product but she turned around and came out with her own hairline. How will this all play out for her, and will she have to undergo a lifestyle change for the sake of her health?

If you want your money, you can’t continue to sleep with your estranged spouse! Tawanna Iverson is finding this out the hard way. Tawanna is married to former Basketball Superstar Allen Iverson. Last week, she filed an order in court demanding a list of all the women her husband slept with during their marriage. The Iversons have five children, and Tawanna is looking to get her share of the money in their divorce. This week, Allen Iverson stepped forward and asked a judge to stop divorce proceedings because he says he and his wife have been having sex daily since last month. Who knows what Allen has up his sleeve, but will this delay him from paying support? He wants their divorce petition to become null and void. Iverson, 36, left the NBA two years ago, but has just signed a deal to play with a Dominican Republic team for ten games.
Another basketball great involved in drama is Dennis Rodman. Rodman, 51, is sick and broke, and he may wind up in jail. Rodman says he has no money, so he can’t pay his child support for two kids, ages nine and ten. He owes $800,000 and his ex-wife Michelle filed papers. She says she wants her money.

VH1 is launching a new reality show about the exes of famous men in Hollywood. The ex-wives of Eddie Murphy, Prince, Will Smith and R Kelly are joining forces in a show that will debut this summer.

Drug charges have been dropped against Singer El DeBarge. DeBarge, who has a long history of drug use, was let go because of insufficient evidence. Apparently, authorities approached him and another man thinking a drug deal was going down. Authorities couldn’t find drugs on the men, but there were drugs (crack cocaine) under the car.

Kerry Washington’s new TV drama Scandal premieres Thursday, April 5th on ABC. The show also stars Actor Columbus Short.

Being on Dancing With The Stars is paying off for Singer Gladys Knight. Knight, 67, has signed on for the TV show First Family. She’ll play the mother of the president of the United States. Back in 1985, Knight appeared as the wife on the short-lived family sitcom Charlie & Company with Flip Wilson and her fellow Dancing With The Stars Contestant Jaleel White. Before he was “Urkel,” White played Knight and Wilson’s son.

The drama continues between Fantasia and her baby daddy Antwaun Cook. Cook wants to move on with his wife Paula, despite the fact that he and Fantasia just had a baby. Cook, at the urging of his family including his mother, wants to break things off with Fantasia. He is willing to take care of their son Dallas, but he wants to go back to his wife and sons. Cook’s family does not care for Fantasia. They view her as a home wrecker, and they love his wife Paula. They want Cook to clean up his mess and get his life in order, and that means back with Paula.

Oscar Winner Octavia Spencer (The Help) is the cover girl for the latest issue of Jet magazine.

In the battle of networks, take a look at the BET network and VH1. Both are owned by Viacom, but BET is the one suffering. Known for its shows focused black entertainment, the network’s ratings don’t even compare to VH1, which has gained millions of viewers. VH1 has been targeting the African American audience with their reality shows Basketball Wives, Flavor Of Love, For The Love Of Ray J, T.I. & Tiny’s The Family Hustle, Love And Hip Hop, and the scripted show Single Ladies, just to name a few. How come these shows are not on BET to help that network? BET is in the process of developing new shows, but they pale in comparison to what VH1 is offering.

Usher is coming to the big screen. He’s going to play Boxing Great Sugar Ray Leonard. Usher is currently training in London.

Supermodel Heidi Klum wants her soon to be ex-husband Singer Seal to put a lid on it. Since their shocking split, she feels he has been talking too much, and it hurts their family. Klum wants Seal to sign a nondisclosure contract as part of their divorce settlement. The pair have four kids and split in January after seven years of marriage.

Where is Mo’Nique? The Oscar-winning actress/comedienne has been quiet since being let go from the BET network. Mo’Nique and her husband Sidney Hicks are in a dispute with property owners in Georgia over a rental that Mo’Nique claims was a filthy and smelled of urine. The landlords are suing Mo’Nique and Sidney claiming they did not pay rent and referred to the comedienne and her husband as Broke Weed Smokers.

The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin recently turned 70 and at a star-studded birthday party. She announced she will be re-teaming up with Whitney Houston’s mentor, Clive Davis, for her next project. Davis signed Franklin to Arista Records for a successful recording run in the 80’s and 90's with hits like Freeway Of Love, Jump to It, A Rose Is Still A Rose and I Knew You Were Waiting For Me. Franklin was the toast of the town at her party with her longtime love Willie Wilkerson.

Former Disney Star Corbin Bleu is coming to Broadway. He will be starring in the Broadway revival of Godspell. In more Broadway news, Blair Underwood makes his debut on the Great White Way in A Street Car Named Desire beginning April 3rd. The cast also includes Nicole Ari Parker, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Wood Harris. Raven-Symoné is currently on Broadway now. Raven best known for her Disney hit That’s So Raven and for getting her start on The Cosby Show. Raven joined the cast of Sister Act starring in the lead role. Raven started on Broadway with The Boys Choir Of Harlem at the age of five.

Comedian/Actor Eddie Griffin is divorcing his latest wife after six months of marriage. He’s citing irreconcilable differences.

NeNe Leakes is getting another TV gig. Leakes is proving that she is more than just a reality TV star. Leakes appeared in a few episodes of the Fox show Glee, and now she is getting a role in the new NBC comedy The New Normal.

Our condolences go out to Reverend Al Sharpton, whose mother passed away. Ada Sharpton died last week at the age of 87 after a bout with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Congrats to Magic Johnson, he never ceases to amaze us. Johnson and a group of investors just purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2 billion. Johnson’s life has been amazing from his days with the L.A. Lakers, his battle with HIV and his activist work.
