The Knowles family is growing. Yes! Beyonce is getting a lil’ brother or
sister. Beyonce’s dad, Matthew Knowles, has been hit with a paternity suit.
Knowles’ girlfriend is six months pregnant. The woman, who is in her late
30’s, says she has been Knowles’ side chick, and now she is having his baby.
Next week, Beyonce will be on Oprah, and she is expected talk about her
parents their marriage- - -and his other women.
Usher is lashing out at his soon to be ex-wife Tameka Foster. He is about to
release his new album (Monster). He is also expected to sign his divorce
papers on that day. In his new song, Usher talks about the rift that he had
with his mom, and that is was Tameka’s fault. Usher please! You were warned
not to marry this woman, but you went ahead anyway and had two babies with
her. Why are you dissing her now? Lashing out at her is childish. You’re a
grown man! Now grow up! Pay your child support and move on.
How is Kandi holding up? Kandi Burruss from Xscape was on top of the world
when she signed on for the reality show The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. Who
would have thought her world would come crashing down once she joined the
show? One of the main plotlines of this season was Kandi’s relationship with
her fiancée, Ashley “A.J.” Jewel. Her mom couldn’t stand him, and it’s long
been rumored what he did for a living. He had six kids, four baby mommas and
a mysterious past, and now he’s dead. A.J. was beaten to death last week.
What happened? Was it a business deal gone wrong? Was he fighting with
another man over an exotic dancer? Did he pull a gun on his attacker? How
will this situation fit into the show? Will Kandi stay with the show? She
had broken off her engagement to A.J. last summer, and she had taken in two
of his kids. A club employee has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in
A.J.’s death.
Now that the hoopla has died down, Lakers Star Lamar Odom is coming to his
senses. Odom wants Khloe Kardashian to sign a prenup before they make it
legal. He wants to make sure she doesn’t get half in case they break up.
Word has it Odom was desperate to get married before he hooked up Khloe
Kardashian. He was dating actress Taraji P. Henson.
So what do you think of The Mo’Nique Show. I love Mo’, but I can’t take the
screaming. Maybe it’s first week jitters? The show is taped in Atlanta, and
she looks good. Mo’Nique has been taking a lot of heat lately. She is one of
the stars of the Lee Daniels’ movie Precious. Reports are coming out that is
she is refusing to do press events for the movie unless there is money
involved. Spokespeople for Mo’Nique says this is not true and that she’s
just busy with her new talk show and her family. Sources fear her attitude
may cost her a chance at getting an Oscar. She gives an amazing performance
in Precious. This movie showcases a Mo’Nique we have never seen. Mo says
it’s the genius of Director Lee Daniels who brought out the best in her.
Jermaine Jackson is firing back at his critics. Jermaine says he is not
cashing in on his brother’s death. Jermaine says it’s the Jackson family’s
responsibility to keep the Michael Jackson legacy alive. Jermaine recently
signed on for the London based reality show Move Like Michael Jackson, and
word has it he could be eyeing a spot for next year’s edition of Dancing
With The Stars.
Tyler Perry is opening up about his past. Perry sent out a special message
to his fans revealing the sexual and physical abuse that he suffered growing
up. Perry is an amazing man, and he has dedicated his life and career to
helping and uplifting others. We may laugh at “Madea” and the movies, but
there is always a message and something to learn. Perry has joined forces
with Oprah Winfrey for the new movie Precious, which opens in theatres
November 6th. Precious is based on the novel Push by Sapphire. The movie is
about a young girl, played by Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe, who is pregnant for a
second time by her father. “Precious” can’t read or write. She feels
unattractive and hates her life. Despite her hardships and abuse, she meets
some amazing people who help her find her way. The movie is powerful and
thought provoking. Perry has opened up about his life so that others can see
you can overcome abuse.
Oprah Winfrey will next be teaming up with Chris Rock by producing his next
film, Will You Be My Black Friend, based on a 2008 article in GQ magazine.
The article was written by a white writer who realized he had no black
friends, so he went on a mission to make friends. The moral of the story,
the older you get, the harder it is to make friends. In other Chris Rock
news, he is being sued by a woman who claims he stole her idea for his new
movie Good Hair. The woman claims she met Rock on the set of Everybody Hates
Chris, where she presented him with her documentary My Nappy Roots. Rock’s
Good Hair opens in theatres this week and in wider release October 23rd.
She’s the number one tennis player in the world- - and she’s nude! Serena
Williams is helping ESPN magazine celebrate their body issue, and she’s
naked on the cover showing off her buff bod.
Mariah Carey’s new album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, is not doing well
on the charts. Look for the album to be re-released with all new mixes.
Carey is currently working on a new holiday project, and she is planning to
do a duet with her mother. Carey’s mom is a trained opera singer. In a
recent interview, Carey wouldn’t comment on a possible tour. She and hubby
Nick Cannon are trying to have a baby, and she is already gaining weight to
get healthy. Carey has been dealing with a lot lately. There are the press
junctions for her new movie Precious (wait until you see her in this movie),
and she’s also fending off reports that her diva behavior and huge entourage
are turning people off. She is considered very high maintenance, and
apparently she doesn’t come cheap she charges thousands of dollars to have
her hair and makeup done.
Get ready for the return of Angie Stone. The new album unexpected comes out
November 24th.
The late E. Lynne Harris’ latest book, Mama Dearest, is topping the best
sellers’ list. People are still in shock over Harris’ death. He died on July
23rd.
Check out Actress Nia Long on the new issue of Essence magazine. She looks
amazing!
Sherri Shepherd of The View launched her new lifetime TV series, Sherri. The
show co-stars include Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Michael Boatman. The show is
loosely based on her life. Shepherd divorced her husband when she realized
she was pregnant at the same as his girlfriend. Ouch!!!!
Jennifer Hudson may have been quiet about her pregnancy, but she is talking
about her experiences as a mom. Jennifer is over the top excited over her
bundle of joy, David Otunga, Jr. He was born August 10th. Hudson says he is
the cutest thing in the world. She says so far motherhood has been amazing,
and her little one loves music.
Flavor Flav is coming back to TV. Flav is filming a new reality show where
he goes back to high school. Flavor Flav is 50, and he dropped out of school
in the 10th grade. Flav says he wants to make his family proud.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will be hosting this year’s Nobel Peace Prize
ceremonies.
The Michael Jackson movie, This Is It, opens in theatres October 28th. The
movie is shaping up to be the biggest music event of the year. The concert
documentary features footage from the rehearsals of the London shows Jackson
was supposed to do before he died. The director is Kenny Ortega, who did the
High School Musical movies. According to preliminary autopsy reports, The
King Of Pop was in relatively good health when he died at the age of 50 in
June. He weighed 136 pounds and had a strong heart. There was evidence that
his lungs were damaged, and he suffered from arthritis. All the evidence of
Jackson’s untimely death points to the anesthetic that was given to him by
his personal doctor, Conrad Murray.
Dr. Cornel West is back with a new book. His memoir is called Brother West:
Living And Loving Out Loud.
The TV One music documentary UnSung is rolling out new episodes in November
featuring episodes on Teena Marie, Roger Troutman and Zapp, Klymaxx and
Bootsy Collins.
Our prayers and condolences go out to the family of Mister Magic. The
legendary DJ was a force to be reckoned with in the early days of hip hop.
He was a staple on WBLS-FM in New York. Mister Magic’s real name was John
Rivas.
Singer Alicia Keys is getting ready to release her new CD, The Element Of
Freedom, on Dec. 1st. The first single, Doesn’t Mean Anything, is already
climbing the charts.
Boyz II Men are getting ready to release a new album. Love is the title of
their new album, and it features production from Randy Jackson, one of the
judges from American Idol. The first single is a remake of the Journey
classic Open Arms.
The Denzel Washington-John Travolta movie The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3 comes
out on DVD November 3rd.
The Whispers are gearing up for another milestone. The legendary group will
be releasing a gospel CD on October 20th. I recently had a chance to
interview the guys Walter, Scotty, Leaveil, and Nicholas. They guys say this
is a project that they have always wanted to do, and their fans will be
pleasantly surprised.
The stars came out for Lionel Richie and a taping of UNCF’s Evening Of
Stars. The show airs in January and will feature Stevie Wonder, Brian
McKnight and Natalie Cole.
Idris Elba, Michael Ealy and Rapper T.I. will be starring in the new movie
Takers, which opens in theatres Feb. 19th, 2010.
It’s Tina Turner’s 50th anniversary in show business, and she celebrates
with Tina Live, a concert DVD. Tina Live comes out October 20th.
Get ready for the return of Toni Braxton. Braxton’s new CD, Pulse, comes out
in February.
Comedian/Actor Mike Epps will be hosting The BET Hip Hop Awards, which will
air October 27th on the network.
The Sixth Annual Hip Hop Honors airs on VH1 October 13th. The show will
honor the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records. Tracy Morgan is hosting with
performances by Ne-Yo, Public Enemy, The Roots and Mary J. Blige.
Get ready for the Soul Train movie. The movie will take place in the 80’s.
From 1971 to 2006, The Soul Train TV show was the hippest trip in America.

Bill Cosby is getting honored in October. The 72-year old comic legend is
getting the nation’s top humor prize, The Mark Twain Award, during
ceremonies in Washington, D.C. Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Cosby Show
Co-stars Phylicia Rashad and Malcolm-Jamal Warner will take part in the
ceremony airing November 4th on PBS. Speaking of Rashad, the woman known to
millions as “Claire Huxtable” is showing off her new look. Over the past 8
months, the 61-year old actress has lost 35 pounds via Jenny Craig.
Brian McKnight’s new CD, Evolution Of A Man, comes out October 27th. Check
out his new late night talk/variety show, which airs Saturday nights on CW
Philly 57.
Anthony Beverly, the son of music legend Frankie Beverly, has produced a
tribute CD for his dad. Silky Soul Music: An All-Star Tribute To Maze
Featuring Frankie Beverly features performances Mary J. Blige, Musiq
Soulchild, The Clark Sisters, Joe, Avant, Ledisi, Mint Condition and Kevon.

At the movies this week, the LeBron James documentary movie, More Than A
Game. The movie shows James’ life before he entered the NBA, including his
high school coach and his teammates. It’s a seven year journey of the life
of James and his teammates. James has also signed on for the movie Fantasy
Basketball Camp.
Law Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler opens in theatres
October 16th.
BeBe and CeCe Winans are back together. Their new single is called Close To
You. The new album comes out this month.
