Let’s talk about jumpoffs. Diahann
Carroll a jump off for Sidney
Poitier?!!!! Yes! According to her
new book, The Legs Are The Last To
Go, Carroll says she was submissive
and desperate for Sidney Poitier.
Carroll, 73, still looks beautiful.
She says she has only had a little
bit of work done. She was TV’s first
black sitcom star in the show Julia,
and she was nominated for an Academy
Award for the title role in the 1974
classic Claudine. In her book, she
talks about her affair with a
married Poitier. At one point, she
left her husband for him, but
Poitier refused to accept her
daughter. During their affair,
Carroll says he promised her the
moon and broke her heart.
Spokespeople for Poitier had no
comment on the book.
Still talkin’ jumpoffs. Is Alicia
Keys a jump off? According to a
married singer, she is. Keys has had
the most brilliant career, free of
scandal….. until now. She is no
longer with her longtime partner
Kerry Brothers. R&B singer Mashonda
has named Keys in her divorce suit
against Hip Hop Producer Swizz Beatz.
Swizz Beatz recently toured Europe
with Alicia Keys, and they became
quite close, despite the fact that
he is married with a young child.
Spokespeople for Keys claim she is
not involved with Swizz Beatz, and
they are just working together.
Swizz Beatz has responded to his
wife’s charges. He says they are not
true. But, people are talking about
Keys and her behavior, and how
ladies need to watch their man, and
ladies Hmmmmmmm. |

Jennifer Hudson is ready to become
Mrs. David Otunga, and her family is
not happy. Otunga proposed to Hudson
on her birthday last week, and she
accepted. Otunga is best known for
his role as “Punk” on the reality
show I Love New York. For the past
year, he has been dating Hudson. He
and Hudson both hail from Chicago,
and he is a graduate of Harvard Law
School. He has not been practicing
law, but he does travel with Hudson
carrying her handbags. This is a
busy time for Hudson. Her new
self-titled album comes out on
September 30th, and her new movie
with Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah,
The Secret Life Of Bees, arrives in
theatres on October 17th. Close
friends of Hudson want her to
concentrate on her career and not
rush into a situation where she
could get hurt. Then there’s the
question of his employment. Does he
plan on working? The Hudson family
is reaching out to prominent lawyers
hoping they can convince her to make
him sign a pre nup before they say I
do.

Tyler Perry is hard at work on his
next movie, Madea Goes To Jail. This
will probably be his last time as “Madea.”
In a recent appearance on Late Night
With Conan O’Brien, Perry claims
women don’t take him seriously
because of the “Madea” character. He
says women prefer his football
player friends.
The Village People got a star on the
Hollywood Walk Of Fame last week,
but Founding Member/Songwriter
Victor Willis had to watch from the
sidelines. Willis showed up in a
fake cop uniform, and watched with
tears in his eyes as the group was
celebrated. Willis, who used to be
married to Cosby mom Phylicia Rashad,
was kicked out of the popular group
because of his drug use and
problems. Willis still gets
royalties for writing The Village
People’s biggest hits like Y.M.C.A.,
In The Navy and Macho Man, but,
because of his past, he is no longer
wanted in the group.
Congratulations to Laila Ali and her
husband former NFL Star Curtis
Conway. They are the proud parents
of a baby boy Curtis Muhammad
Conway.

Americans to perform in their comedy skits. One
African American performer per season won’t do, and
neither will having actors wear dark makeup in
skits.
