It’s a lonely Fourth Of July holiday for Dr.
Jan Adams. Adams was arrested last week for
drunk driving. This is his third D.U.I.
Adams is the well known plastic surgeon who
operated on Dr. Donda West before she died.
Dr. West was the mother of Rapper Kanye
West. Adams was not charged with any
wrongdoing, but Dr. West’s death put the
spotlight on Dr. Adams medical practices. He
has been the subject of various lawsuits,
including an incident where a sponge was
left inside of a patient. Patients have
filed complaints in regards to bad boob jobs
and liposuction. Adams pleaded not guilty to
the latest charge. He says it was not him
driving in the car. When police found him,
he was alone driving the wrong way on the
highway. Was he so drunk he forgot? Adams
was also dealt another blow when he lost his
license to practice medicine. He lost the
license because he failed to pay his child
support. Dr. Jan had a promising career, but
now with all the scandals and drinking, he
clearly needs help.

Eddie Murphy is ready for a change. He is a
few years from 50, and he says he wants to
retire from movies. Murphy hinted that the
upcoming Beverly Hills Cop IV will be his
last. Murphy’s latest, Meet Dave co-starring
Gabrielle Union, opens in theatres on July
11th. Will he return to stand up comedy?
Sources say he will. I wonder if he will
joke about his scandals the 90’s: tranny
scandal, his baby momma drama with Spice
Girl Mel B, his friendship with Johnny Gill.

There will be no more Wilin’ Out for Nick
Cannon. He has been told by his wife, Mariah
Carey, that he can no longer be affiliated
with the MTV show. She made him realize he
has no time for that, and he must be at her
beck and call at all times. Dang Nick! I
guess you really are: Whupped Nick, Mariah’s
Little Puppy.
Mel B is teaming up with Jerry Springer.
They will be hosting the 2008 Miss Universe
Pageant. The show will air live on NBC, July
13th from Vietnam.

New Edition and New Kids On The Block are
teaming up together for a project. For
years, the two groups were 80’s rivals. Now
they are joining forces for a new song
called Full Service. Bobby Brown will not be
featured on this project.
Alfonso Ribeiro has a new gig. Ribeiro is
best known for his role as “Carlton Banks”
on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. He will be
hosting a new show on the game show network.
The show, Catch 21, deals with all sorts of
pop trivia.
The long awaited LaBelle reunion is
scheduled for September of this year. Yes!
After 31 years, Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash
and Nona Hendryx return with a new album,
which includes production from Gamble & Huff
and Rocker Lenny Kravitz. One of the songs
is remake of the Sylvester dance classic,
You Make Me Feel Mighty Real.
Is Singer Alicia Keys really serious about
retiring at the age of 30? The popular
singer says she would like to take time to
travel.

Comedian and Actor Katt Williams is in talks
with the Comedy Central Cannel. Williams
would host a comedy special and a possible
series. This is the same network that
offered a $50 million deal to Dave Chappelle,
and Dave turned it down.
The famed gospel duo Mary Mary, sisters Tina
and Erica, are working hard on a new album.
The CD, The Sound, is due out in September. |

India.Arie is gearing up for her Broadway
debut in a revival of the Ntozake Shange
classic For Colored Girls Who Have
Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is
Enough. Whoopi Goldberg is producing and
opening night is September 8th.
Jamie Foxx’s new MTV reality show, From G’s
To Gents, is set to debut on July 15th.
Kim Coles has been named the new host of a
revival of The Dating Game. The popular
dating show from the 70’s is returning to
the Game Show Network with the former Living
Single star.
Congratulations to Producer Rodney Jerkins.
He and his wife, Singer Joy Enriquez, are
the proud parents of a baby boy. Jerkins is
best known for his work with Brandy and
Beyoncé, and he’s working on new music for
Fantasia.

Now that he’s a married man, Ruben Studdard
says it’s time to get back to work. Last
weekend, Studdard tied the knot with Surata
Zuri McCants, a former flight attendant.
They met at a Walmart book signing. Studdard
is hitting the road in a new revival of
Ain’t Misbehavin’. He will play the
legendary Fats Waller. He’s also been in the
studio working on a new album with Jimmy Jam
and Terry Lewis. |

Ebony and Jet magazines are getting ready to
roll out some exciting issues. New Edition
will be honored with their own cover of Jet
as they celebrate their 25th anniversary.
The August edition of Ebony will be
groundbreaking as The Ten Coolest Brothers
Of All Time are honored. The 8 different
covers will feature Democratic Presidential
Candidate Barack Obama, Jay-Z, Billy Dee
Williams, Denzel Washington and Muhammad
Ali, to name a few.

Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns is available
now on DVD. The movie stars Angela Bassett
and Rick Fox.
The 5th Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors takes
place in October.
Motown Records is celebrating its 50th
anniversary with a 10 CD box set. The Motown
Collection is out July 1st on Time Life
Music. The box set will also feature a DVD
of Motown stars on The Ed Sullivan Show and
lyrics to 10 songs. Billy Dee Williams will
be starring in the infomercial.
The 51st Annual Grammy Awards are set for
February 8th, 2009. The show will air live
on CBS. |
