Is Oprah Winfrey losing her touch? “The Mighty O”
has seen circulation go down on her magazine, O, and
her audience lead for her TV show has shrunk.
According to a recent article in the New York Times,
a lot of people were turned off by Oprah when she
delved into politics with her support of Senator
Barrack Obama for president. They claim not only
were Republican women run off, but white women in
general who want to see a woman as president were
turned off as well. They feel Oprah turned her back
on women when she decided to support a man. The
article also cited Winfrey’s foray into new age
spirituality, which has turned off many Christians.
Over the past couple of years, Oprah has taken a lot
of hits including an abuse scandal at her South
African school and her battles with weight. Have you
noticed she is starting to gain again? I think her
shows in May were excellent. Her interview with
Barbara Walters was her best. Oprah is gearing up to
launch her own network in a couple of years, but a
lot of people probably want to see her fail. I think
she’s going to be fine, but what do you think? Let’s
talk about it.
Don’t mess with Vanessa Bryant, a reporter for ESPN
had to find out the hard that you don’t say bad
things about Kobe Bryant’s wife. Vanessa recently
cornered a female reported and cussed her out in
front of Bryant’s two young daughters. The daughters
are two and five-years old, but that didn’t stop
their mother Vanessa from using the “F” word several
times to get her point across. On lookers were
shocked that she would behave this way in front of
her kids.
Actor Gary Dourdan has pleaded guilty to possession
of drugs including cocaine, ecstasy and heroin.
Dourdan recently lost his job on the TV show CSI
because of his drug use. Dourdan was found by police
along side the road passed out in his car. In
exchange for the guilty plea, he will now enter a
drug rehab program. Dourdan says he is embarrassed
by the string of recent events and hopes to put all
this behind him.
Star Jones may have to pay her soon to be ex-hubby
Al Reynolds some money to shut up. Al wants to talk
about his marriage to Star, but he wants to get paid
for it. So far, no one is biting because they want
him to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing
but the truth. He won’t answer the bi-sexuality
questions, but he needs the money. So what will he
do, and can Star keep him quiet?
After 33 years, LaBelle is back! Patti LaBelle,
Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx have reunited, and they
are hard at work on a new album due this fall. Lenny
Kravitz produced some cuts, and the ladies will also
reunite with Gamble and Huff on the project as well.
One of the tunes is a remake of the Sylvester disco
classic, You Make Me Feel Mighty Real.
LL Cool J is ready to unveil his new clothing line.
The Kids Streetwear will be sold exclusively at
Sears starting this fall and will feature jeans,
T-shirts and sweatshirts.
Sherri Shepherd of The View has been tapped to
co-host The Daytime Emmys on June 20th.
Sonya Norwood is going to step in to help her son
Ray J. Brandy’s little brother has been wild and out
of control for a while. First, there was the sex
tape with Kim Kardashian. Now he’s involved with
drugs. Over the weekend, he was asked to leave a
hotel after he was found marijuana and a variety of
club drugs. Associates of Whitney Houston are also
asking her to steer clear of Ray J. This just proves
he is a bad influence for her. Ray-J loves the wild
life, but now with the drugs, he is showing that he
is out of control.

In a recent interview, he talked about his split
with his mom. Saying he wishes his mom would accept
his older wife. Usher says the split was hard, but
now is the time for him to be his own man.
Usher also talked
about his dad, who died last year. He says he was
glad they got to know each other before he passed.
Get ready for the T.D. Jakes talk show. Yes, the
bishop is getting his own daytime TV show courtesy
of Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil’s production company is
producing the new show set to debut next year. Jakes
is a popular televangelist and a best selling
author. He says he looks forward to helping people
via his talk show.
Beyonce may be singing the new theme for the next
James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace.
The Time is reuniting! Morris Day, Jerome Benton,
Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Monte Moir and Jesse Johnson
are coming together for a series of shows in Las
Vegas at The Flamingo. The shows are happening this
summer June 24th- August 2nd.
The first grandchild of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
was born last weekend. Yolanda Renee King came in at
7lbs., 5 ounces. She is the daughter of Martin
Luther King, III and his wife Andrea. Yolanda was
named after her aunt, Yolanda King, who died last
year.
The life story of Nelson Mandela is coming to
Broadway. The musical is scheduled to debut in 2010,
and will focus on the life of the South African
civil rights icon and South Africa’s struggle for
freedom from apartheid. The musical will be based on
a memoir by Mandela’s daughter, Zindzi Mandela.
Jail will have to wait for Actor Wesley Snipes. A
judge has ruled that Snipes will remain free on bail
while appealing his 3-year prison sentence on tax
evasion charges.
Where’s Actress Lisa Raye McCoy-Missick? The first
lady of the Turks and Caicos Islands has been in
hiding ever since her husband was named in a sex
scandal on his islands. Prime Minister Michael
Missick denies any allegations of sexual assault
against a female guest on the islands. Missick
admits sleeping with the woman, but that’s all.
Friends say Lisa Raye is devastated. She married the
prime minister in a fairytale wedding. Now, it has
turned into a nightmare. Why would he humiliate her
like that, and has he been cheating on her all
along? When Lisa Raye surfaces, many wonder will she
still continue her duties as the first lady of the
islands, or will she walk away from her troubled
marriage?
Director Spike Lee is working on a documentary about
Basketball Great Michael Jordan. Lee and Jordan
became friends when they worked on a series of Nike
commercials years ago. The documentary will focus on
the final two years of Jordan’s career.
Boxer Evander Holyfield is ready to take on Grill
King George Foreman. Holyfield is about to introduce
his new grill, The Real Deal Grill. It’s a portable
electric grill.
The Michael Baisden Show returns for a second season
on June 21st. The show airs on TV One. This season’s
special guests include Singer Tamia and Iyanla Van
Zandt.
Football Star Terrell Owens is looking to start an
acting career. He says after he ends his sports
career, he wants to do movies and TV.
Ugly Betty Star Vanessa Williams has been tapped to
host the TV Land Awards on June 15th.

Tiffany Pollard, returns to VH1 in the new reality
show New York Goes To Hollywood, which will debut in
August.
At the movies this week, it’s Sex And The City. The
ladies are back: “Carrie,” “Samantha,” “Charlotte”
and “Miranda.” Jennifer Hudson is a new addition to
the cast as “Louise,” Carrie’s assistant. The movie
is long. They pack a lot in. The fashions are
fabulous, and the ladies show true girl power.

A lot of people are wondering why we haven’t
seen photos of an award-winning actress’ baby.
She isn’t being offered any decent money for the
exclusive rights. One mag in question was
willing to give one couple $6 million for their
baby photos, but the award-winning actress was
only offered $400,000.

A war of words recently took place between two
Singing Divas. At a recent east coast concert,
the two ladies went at it when one of them
bought her old group on stage with her. This
infuriated the other Singer. She started out
with a singing group, but she was a backstabber
and mean, so the ladies no longer speak to her.
Why are you trying to upstage me? Everyone is
screaming out your name! Can you please tone
your act down! The other Diva replied, You
should have gone on first! Only a fool would go
on after me! I am a real Singer, not a
manufactured one!
