Mrs. Nick Cannon speaks? Mariah Carey wants the
world to know she’s in love. Carey says she has
never felt love like this. Carey, 38, married
Cannon, 27, in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas.
They have known each other for two months, and he
directed her new video Bye-Bye. Cannon is best known
for his work on the Nickelodeon channel, the movie
Drum Line and the MTV show Wilin’ Out. Cannon did
have to sign a pre-nup before he became Mr. Carey.
Mariah is worth over $100 million. Check out the
happy couple on the cover of People magazine.
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown are going through
teenage angst with their 15-year old daughter Bobbi
Kristina. According to published reports, their
15-year old daughter has already attempted suicide,
and has been treated at a psych ward. Unfortunately,
Bobbi Kristina has taken after her parents and has
been partying and drinking. She is very young, but
her parents realize that despite their differences,
they must come together to save their daughter.
Star Jones is slowly trying to put her life back
together. She is going through a very public divorce
with hubby Al Reynolds, and everybody is weighing
in. Al’s mom, Ada Reynolds, says she misses Star and
wishes things didn’t have to end this way. Ada
Reynolds says was surprised when her son got married
because she didn’t know he was serious about anyone.
When asked about the rumors of her son being gay,
Ada Reynolds says if he was she doesn’t want to
know, but she will help him if he needs help.
Meanwhile, everybody is talking about Star and her
love life. Is Star a cougar? Who is she dating? Is
it D-Wade, the basketball star from the Miami Heat?
According to Dwayne Wade, Star is an amazing woman,
and they are just friends. Is Star dating Temple
University Professor Dr. Lamont Hill? He’s known as
a hip-hop intellectual. In published photos, they
looked comfy together. Star looks amazing. I guess
she realizes she has to get both a new man and a new
job. In other Star news, how about that Barbara
Walters interview on Oprah? Barbara has written her
memoirs, and she talks about Star lying about her
weight loss on The View. Walters says the ladies
went along with the lie about Star’s weight loss
because Star didn’t want to admit she has undergone
gastric bypass surgery. She also talked about Star
and the infamous wedding to Al Reynolds. How Star
came across as a greedy bridezilla, and how it led
to her being dismissed from the show. Walters’ new
book is fascinating. Some of the highlights include
her clashes with Rosie O’Donnell, her trailblazing
TV career and her affair with a married black
senator, Edward Brooks from Massachusetts.
Usher is going to be everywhere promoting his new CD
Here I Am. Usher will be featured on the June issue
of Essence magazine. It’s a special Father’s Day
issue. He will be on the cover with his infant son.
Usher didn’t get any money for the photos with his
son. He says he won’t pimp his child for money.

Porter, is on the new issue of Jet. She talks about
being the mother of four. Her first son was by Al B.
Sure, and she has three kids by Diddy, including
twin girls. Porter talks about her life and career,
including a possible television stint on Lifetime
and her new movie Mama I Want To Sing.
Damon Wayans is returning to ABC. Wayans was last on
ABC with the show My Wife & Kids, which ran from
2001-2005. Wayans will be starring in the TV show
Never Better. Wayans will be playing a recovering
alcoholic who is determined to be a good father and
husband.
The DVD, Patti LaBelle Live in Washington, is coming
out June 10th. The 1982 concert was produced by
Gamble and Huff.
James Brown, II is the six-year old of the Godfather
of Soul James Brown. The first of the DNA tests have
come back and the six-year old by his companion Tomi
Rae Hynie will now be recognized as a true Brown off
spring. The young child was left out of the will,
but now he will be entitled along with the other
Brown off spring to a share of his will. There was a
big dispute about the young child when it was
reported the Godfather had a vasectomy in the 80’s.
Since his death two years ago, five people have been
declared an off spring of Brown.
Despite his high profile appearance on Divorce
Court, Gary Coleman is still married to his young
wife. Coleman, 40, married his 22-year old wife last
August, and it’s been rocky ever since. Mrs. Coleman
says her husband likes to throw temper tantrums, and
disappear in the middle of the night. Coleman
admitted on the show he has anger issues. He says
he’s been dealing with depression. Coleman also says
he spends his days watching TV and hiding from debt
collectors. He says he feels like a failure, and he
never wants to fail at anything. The former child
star says he finds it hard to face the day to day
struggle of living on planet earth. He says he loves
his wife, but he has issues. Coleman rose to fame in
the 80’s playing “Arnold” on the TV show Diff’rent
Strokes.
Singer Will Downing hopes to return to touring as he
continues to recover from Polymyosistis.
Polymyosistis is a rare, chronic disease that causes
inflammation in the muscles. Downing has been
suffering from the disease for the past two years.
There is no cure for Polymyosistis, but the symptoms
can be treated. Downing no longer uses a wheelchair.
And, after losing 100 pounds, he has gained 70 back.
Downing’s new album, After Tonight, is his current
release.
Evelyn “Champaign” King is returning this summer
with a new CD, Open Book. It’s been 31 years since
she burst on the scene with the smash hit Shame.
King currently lives in California with her husband,
Smooth Jazz Artist Freddie Fox.
More headaches for R Kelly as his child pornography
case comes to trial. Kelly is accused of videotaping
himself having sex with an underage girl, maybe 13
or 14-years old. Kelly has pleaded not guilty. The
prosecution has pulled forth a surprise witness who
says she had sex with Kelly and the under age girl.
She says they had a threesome. This woman and the
under age girl, who is now in her 20’s, are
scheduled to testify.
Prince is coming out with a new book. 21 Nights is a
book about his 21 night concert stand last August in
London. The book will feature never before published
photos, a rare glimpse into his life, lyrics and
mystique. The book is due out this fall.
Actor Gary Dourdan is explaining his recent arrest
for drug possession. Dourdan says the drugs were not
his. Dourdan was arrested and found with cocaine,
ecstasy and heroin. Sources close to the actor say
this is the real reason why he is leaving the TV
show CSI. Dourdan played “Warrick Brown,” but his
behavior on the set got out of control. His contract
was not renewed for the show. Is Dourdan in denial?
His close friends think he is, and they want him to
get help.
The movie Cover is coming out on DVD. The Bill Duke
directed movie is a murder mystery about men on the
down low. The movie, which stars Aunjanue Ellis,
Vivica A. Fox, Paula Jai Parker, Leon and Clifton
Davis, comes out on the 13th.
Time magazine has named Tyler Perry one of its 100
Most Influential People. Perry is hard at work on
his new movie, Madea Goes To Jail. The movie,
starring Keisha Knight Pulliam, Derek Luke, Salli
Richardson-Whitfield, Judge Mablean Epriam and Viola
Davis, comes out early next year.

Eddie Murphy’s dream movie may now becoming reality.
Director Brett Ratner is putting together a project
called The Trump Heist, which would star Murphy as
the leader of a crew of con artists. Ratner is
hoping to sign on Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and
Chris Tucker.
He’s got a hit movie, Iron Man, and he’s the toast
of Broadway with Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, but now he
says he needs a wife. Actor Terrence Howard says he
is looking for a wife. I had no idea he was
divorced, but he’s advertising. Women love him. Will
he ever settle down?
The BET Awards are set for June 24th. Mariah Carey
and Usher are scheduled to perform.

Martha Reeves of Martha And The Vandellas was the
victim of the robbery at her Detroit home. Last
weekend, Reeves home was robbed of over a million
dollars of equipment. Stolen items included Karaoke
machines, speakers and microphones. Reeves did not
have insurance.
Congrats to Vanessa Williams. The Ugly Betty star
and former Miss America is getting her bachelor of
fine arts degree. Williams, 45, left Syracuse
University 25 years ago.
Regina Belle is back with a new gospel album. It’s
her first. I had a chance to sit down with Belle,
and she discussed the project and her life in
Atlanta. Belle is married to a minister, and she is
the minister of music at the church. She says she is
busy raising her children and she still tours. Belle
is scheduled to do a show at Penns Landing in
Philadelphia this summer. Her gospel album, Love
Forever Shines, arrives in stores on the 13th and
features the hit single God Is Good.
Brandy is in talks to join the soap opera All My
Children. She is currently working on a new album.
If she signs the deal, she will start on the show
next year. Brandy is looking to expand her career
and do some more acting.

Get ready for Sex And The City, the movie. The movie
opens in theatres May 30th.
Singer India.Arie is headed to Broadway. Arie will
be starring in the Ntozake Shange classic For
Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The
Rainbow Is Enough. The production originally debuted
in 1977. Previews start in July, and it officially
opens on Broadway August 2nd. The stage play looks
at the experience of being a black woman in America
through the eyes of seven characters.
Harrison Ford returns as “Indiana Jones” in the new
movie, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal
Skull. Despite being in his 60’s, Ford can still do
the wild stunts. The movie opens in theatres May
22nd.
