Another news season of American Idol and more
bizarre behavior from Idol Judge Paula Abdul. Her
reps had no comment on recent reports that Abdul was
spotted at LAX hyperventilating and screaming at
someone on the phone.
Reps for Vivica A. Fox are working overtime to do
damage control over reports that Fox was involved in
a sex tape scandal. Was Vivica secretly recorded on
a man’s cell phone performing a sex act? The video
was everywhere last week, and it sure looked like
Auntie Viv. Reps for Vivica say it’s not her. They
claim Vivica doesn’t have a boyfriend, and she has
not been involved in a sex act that could ruin her
career. Sources say that the woman featured in the
video could have been Porn Star Adina Jewel. Jewel
resembles Vivica, and has appeared in over 300
films.
When Dr. Donda West died, was her caregiver to
blame? Dr. West, the mother of Rapper Kayne West,
died in November following plastic surgery
procedures performed by Dr. Jan Adams. Adams is not
a certified plastic surgeon, and Dr. West died the
day after surgery. There has been speculation over
Dr. West’s caregiver. Did she overmedicate Dr. West?
Did she have the proper tools to care for her
following surgery? And on the day she died, did the
caregiver leave Dr. West’s side for several hours?
Patti Labelle is coming out with a line of wigs. The
wigs and hair pieces will come in ten different
styles. A line of shampoos, conditioners and sheens
will also be available to take care of the wigs.
Actor/Comedian Tracey Morgan is sober, happy and he
has a hit movie. Morgan is one of the stars of the
David E Talbert film ‘First Sunday’. The movie is
excellent and also stars Ice Cube and Katt Williams.
Morgan is known for his problems with alcohol and
DUI arrests. Last year he spent a good part of the
year wearing an alcohol monitoring device. Morgan
credits the love of his wife and his three children
for his new found sobriety. Morgan says his oldest
son begged him to stop drinking and bring their
family back together. Morgan says that was the
wakeup call he needed to turn his life around.
The 39th Annual NAACP Image Awards take place
February 14th on Fox. The movie The Great Debaters
is up for eight awards, and Alicia Keys is up for
four awards. Stevie Wonder will be getting the NAACP
Image Award Hall of Fame honor. This year’s theme is
Stand Up And Be Counted.
Have you ever wondered what happens to the winners
of some of your favorite reality shows? Life pretty
much goes back to normal for most. Deelishis, the
winner of Flavor of Love: Season Two, says she never
heard from Flavor Flav after the show. She says all
contact stopped. Flav was probably too busy with his
new baby momma. As for winner number one of Flavor
of Love, Hoopz, she is set to make her acting debut
in an adult movie that will be unveiled at the Adult
Video Awards. Now talking about milking the cow,
Flavor Flav is coming back for another season of
Flavor of Love. This man is not looking for love. He
is seeking money and attention.
Has Actor Will Smith joined the Scientologist
religion? The I Am Legend star is reportedly
recruiting people to the religion, which also notes
other famous celebs like Tom Cruise and John
Travolta. Smith’s new movie, Hancock, about a
depressed superhero, comes out this summer.
Basketball Superstar Shaquille O’Neal is ready to
move on with his life, and that means going through
with divorcing wife Shaunie. Shaq is willing to give
Shaunie anything she wants, but first the mother of
three of his kids will have to sign a
confidentiality report. Shaq wants their private
life to remain private. He doesn’t want to look up
and hear about a tell all book. Will Shaunie sign
the agreement and take the money?
Are Jay-Z and Beyonce secretly married? Don’t be
surprised if the news of a secret Paris wedding
comes out-hmmmmmm!
Are Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds legally married?
NO! The ceremony that happened in Bora Bora on New
Year’s day was a spiritual ceremony. They will have
to do a legal ceremony in the United States.
According to laws of the islands, you have to be a
resident of the island or apply for a license 30
days prior to a ceremony. In the meantime, Tracey’s
ex husband, Producer/Singer Babyface, will still
have to pay her alimony.
The man who broke Mary J. Blige’s heart is getting
married. K-Ci Hailey of Jodeci fame is planning a
summer wedding to his longtime girlfriend.
Rapper Nate Dogg is recovering in rehab after
suffering a stroke. The rapper became ill before
Christmas.
Cedric The Entertainer will be hosting the first
annual BET Honors February 22nd. Special honorees
include Tyra Banks, Alicia Keys and Dr. Cornel West.
Stevie Wonder, John Legend , Erykah Badu and Jill
Scott are scheduled to attend.
Susan L. Taylor’s 4th book, All About Love, is
coming out next month. Getting the love you deserve
is the theme of the book, which is a collection of
her favorite columns. The collection of essays is
wise, warm, honest and provocative. This will be
Taylor’s first big venture since announcing that she
was leaving Essence Magazine after 37 years.
Speaking of Essence magazine, check out Tyra Banks
on the latest issue. This is her third cover. Mary
J. Blige is on the new issue of Vibe. And, it’s all
about love the second time around, as Ebony magazine
celebrates celebrity couples for their February
issue.
Are wedding bells in the air for Tennis Sensation
Venus Williams and her boyfriend Hank Kuehne.
Williams has been dating Kuehne for the past year,
and they could be tying the knot before the end of
the year.
Remember the action figure G.I. Joe. Well, G.I. Joe
is coming to the big screen courtesy of the Wayans
Brothers. The live action movie starring Shawn,
Marlon and Keenen Ivory Wayans hits theatres in
Spring 2009.
Singer Ciara makes her big screen debut this spring
in Mama I Want To Sing. The movie musical is based
on the award winning off Broadway musical by Vy
Higginson. The movie also stars Lynn Whitfield,
Patti LaBelle, Prophetess Juanita Bynum, Hill Harper
and Ben Vereen.
Even though the bootleg DVD is everywhere, the
official DVD of the movie American Gangster with
Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe is coming out
next month.
Look for a new album this spring from Michael
McDonald. Love Speak arrives in stores this March
and Mariah’s Carey’s new album this April.
Tyler Perry’s new movie Meet The Browns with Angela
Bassett and Rick Fox opens in theatres March 21st.
Oprah’s new reality show, Oprah’s Big Give, debuts
March 2nd on ABC. The show’s host is Oprah’s number
one designer Nate Berkus and Chris Rock’s wife,
Malaak Compton Rock, will serve as a judge. On the
show, 10 people will compete to give away thousands
of dollars to unsuspecting people.
After 15 years at the artistic helm, Walter Dallas
is leaving Freedom Theatre. Dallas, who has worked
with such noted artists as Sonia Sanchez, the late
Grover Washington, Jr. and Glynn Turman, says it’s
been an amazing 15 years, but he is ready to move on
with new ventures. Dallas says he has a couple of
plays he’s working on. His last day at Freedom
Theatre is June 1st.
