Eddie
Murphy, meet your daughter! The new issue of OK magazine has
the exclusive pictures of the girl who could be Murphy’s
seventh child. Mel B, the former Spice Girl, is the baby’s
mother, and she got $250,000 for the exclusive pictures and
story. Mel has given her daughter a new name, Angel Iris
Murphy Brown. She decided on Angel because she says her
daughter is an Angel to her. Iris is her grandmother. Murphy
because she says Eddie is the baby daddy, and Brown is Mel’s
last name. She originally named the baby Fortuna, but she
says that was a joke. Mel B says she is deeply hurt by Eddie
Murphy. She says she doesn’t know what happened. She says
during the six months they were together he was a loving
boyfriend. Mel B says they talked about getting married,
having a family and buying a house. Now, she says she wants
Eddie to step up and be responsible. She also questions his
latest romance with Tracey Edmonds. Edmonds used to be
married to Babyface. Shortly after Eddie dumped Mel, he took
up with Tracey. Mel B says she thinks the pairing is odd and
a little fake. Close friends of Eddie Murphy say he is
furious about what is happening. The baby was born on his
birthday, and he has been miserable ever since. He is
getting ready to do promotion for the Shrek III movie. Eddie
voices the donkey character. With the Mel B baby scandal, he
doesn’t want to talk to anyone. He will only do pretaped
interviews. The Murphy Family is not happy about this turn
of events either. They want Eddie to speak up. They claim he
felt she was not faithful to him. There were stories of
other men, and maybe some women. Is she bi-sexual? Did Mel B
disrespect his mother? Will Eddie talk? And, when is he
going to take the test to find out if he is the baby daddy?
There
is life after Michael Jordan, just ask Juanita Jordan. She
recently divorced the basketball superstar and got half his
fortune: $200 million. She also got a new man, a 29-year old
investment banker, who sources say looks like a younger
version of Michael Jordan. Has Juanita found love or just
some fun? Either way….. GO GIRL! After years of Jordan’s
cheating, Juanita needs someone to love her.
Holly
Robinson Peete graces the cover of the new issue of Essence
magazine. Robinson-Peete is married to former NFL
Quarterback Rodney Peete, and, in a very revealing
interview, she admits she almost left her husband. The
Peetes appear to be the perfect couple with their four
children, but Robinson-Peete says for a while it was a
struggle with the oldest child, Rodney, Jr., who has autism.
Holly says she was frustrated with her husband’s football
career and schedule. She felt like she was doing all the
work and felt alone. Holly also admits she found out who her
real friends were. She says there were times when her son
was not invited to the parties and play dates because of his
condition. Today, Rodney, Jr. is thriving, and Robinson
Peete credits that to his early diagnosis. This fall check

Gabrielle Union and Ving Rhames.
Singer
Will Downing needs our prayers. The popular singer who's
known for his rich deep voice has been hospitalized since
January with Poliomyelitis (Po-Li-O-My-E-Li-Tis).
Poliomyelitis is an inflammatory disease of the muscles. It
causes muscle weakness and affects your ability to function.
Downing first noticed something was wrong over the holidays
when he came down with extreme fatigue. Downing feared going
to seek help, but then his family stepped in and forced him
to see a doctor. He is now in rehab and working to get in
shape. His voice is fine, and he is expected to release a
new album in September. Plans for a ‘07 tour have been
cancelled. Sources say recovery could take a while.
The
Chris Rock paternity case has taken an interesting turn. The
woman who is accusing Rock of being the father of her
13-year old son has an extensive criminal background.
36-year old Kali Bower has had numerous, bizarre police
encounters, including drunk driving, theft by deception,
elaborate cell phone scams and bad checks. Apparently, Bower
loves to tell wild stories, and she claims police are always
doing things to her. Rock is not listed on her son’s birth
certificate, but he acknowledges the two had a fling in the
90’s, and he is willing to take a paternity test.
Vanessa
Williams takes it off for the new issue of Allure magazine.
The star of ABC’s Ugly Betty looks fabulous as she strips
down, tastefully, for the feature, What Lies Beneath.
Oscar
Winner Louis Gossett, Jr. says he has been the victim of
identity theft. Last week, it was reported he owed a sports
arena in Los Angeles close to $40,000 for unpaid tickets.
Gossett says he pays his bills, but that someone stole his
information and ordered a bunch of tickets.
Usher’s
Mom Johnetta Patton has found love. Patton recently turned
50, and she recently got engaged to her sweetheart a 36-year
old former boxer. Wedding bells were already set to ring in
that household later this year. Usher, who’s 28, will be
tying the knot with his lady Tameka Foster, who’s ten years
older than him. Even though they don’t get along, Johnetta
and Tameka do have one thing in common. They both like
younger men.
The
BET network is gearing up for a gospel version of American
Idol. The show, called Sunday Best, will be patterned after
Idol, but will feature artists singing the gospel. Sunday
Best will feature Patti LaBelle, Kirk Franklin and Shirley
Caesar.
The
family of James Brown continues to make headlines. The Brown
Family owes their father’s funeral director some money. So
far, the funeral home that did the services for James Brown
has been paid $80,000, but they claim they are still owed
$70,000 more. The initial bill came to $150,000. That
included storing the body of James Brown for three months
while they decided what to do with his remains. Plus, the
two elaborate ceremonies, one in Georgia and one in New
York. The children claim the funeral director should get the
money from the James Brown Trust Fund. But, the funeral
director says the children should pay him his $70,000
because they are the ones who ran up the bill.
Now
that her marriage to Bobby Brown is officially over, Whitney
can turn her attention to her comeback album. Word has it
there have been problems in the studio involving the
direction of the project. Whitney wants to stick to her old
formula, but her mentor Clive Davis wants her to work with
some up and coming talent out today. He even suggested she
do a song with Christina Aguilera. Whitney quickly shot down
that idea. She is still working to get her voice back in
shape after years of drug abuse. She has to prove she can
sing again, and she can’t do that singing next to someone
with a powerful voice like Aguilera’s.
Hip
Hop Mogul Russell Simmons has released his latest book
called Do You: 12 Laws To Access The Power in You To Achieve
Happiness and Success. He is currently touring the country
promoting the book.
Dreamgirls
Star and Tony Award Winner Anika Noni Rose will be voicing
Disney’s first African American Princess. The Frog Princess
will hit theatres in 2009.

Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Fox, is also coming
out on the same day.
Tyler Perry’s latest movie Daddy’s Little Girls, with
Gabrielle Union and Idris Elba, is coming out on DVD, June
12th.
